A brand new Powerlifting program will start on Wednesday, January 8th and will run on Wednesdays & Fridays from 7 – 8:30 pm. The training will be at the Island Optimal gym with coaches Joel Meier & Pat Kowal. Please note that Special Olympics athletes must be 16 years of age before competing in powerlifting.
Powerlifting is about more than squats, bench presses, and deadlifts. It is about perseverance, overcoming barriers, and striving for success.
Powerlifting events include Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift Combination (Bench Press and Deadlift), Combination (Bench Press, Deadlift, and Squat). |
